Previous Kitchen

The old kitchen, whilst large, lacked bench space around the oven area. This also meant limited bench space to plug in and use their kitchen gadgets. By moving the fridge off the back wall, we were able to create more bench space along that stretch.

The U-shape made for quite an obstacle to get around as it was long. We decided an island would suit. It created an unobstructed path to the dining table and the outdoor area. The island is still big enough that the small bench space sacrificed is not missed. There is still plenty of prep space and the island is well deep enough to allow for seating on the other side.

Next to the fridge, we created an appliance cabinet. This houses the coffee machine, toaster, kettle as well as their microwave at head height. Having the microwave raised, frees up bench space and is also at a very user-friendly height.
